Wedding Planner in Esma Sultan The Marmara Esma Sultan Mansion This historical mansion, located on the Bosphorus separating Europe from Asia, reflects the Golden Age of Istanbul and was named after the then-owner Esma Sultan, who was the daughter of Abdulaziz I. Esma Sultan, born in 1873, married Circassian Mehmet Pasha when she was 16 years old. She became a distinguished and admired lady thanks to her lively and colorful character.
This magnificent mansion where Esma Sultan lived in Istanbul was abandoned at the end of the Ottoman Empire, survived a fire and an earthquake, and then used as a tobacco and coal storage respectively. In the 1990s, The Marmara Hotels group took the rest of the mansion and in 2001 finally gave the mansion a new cultural identity.
